The Aqara Light Switch H2 EU is a premium smart wall switch that replaces your existing light switch with intelligent control — no smart lighting bulbs needed. It fits the standard EU 86×86mm wall box format and is compatible with System 55 frames, including popular third-party brands like Gira and Merten, making it an elegant upgrade that looks entirely at home alongside traditional switches.
One of its most practical features is universal wiring compatibility: the H2 EU works both with and without a neutral wire. This matters enormously in older Croatian and European homes where a neutral wire is rarely present at the switch. No neutral wire means no need to rewire — simply connect the live and load wires and the switch works immediately. When a neutral wire is available, additional features unlock: real-time power consumption monitoring, overload protection, and overheat protection, turning the switch into an energy management tool as well.
The H2 EU supports two protocols that can be switched at any time: Zigbee, for deep integration with Aqara Home and Aqara hubs with all advanced features; and Thread (Matter), for direct compatibility with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and any other Matter ecosystem without needing an Aqara hub at all. This dual-protocol design means the switch works today with what you have, and remains compatible with whatever smart home direction you choose in future.
The second button on the 1-channel version operates as a wireless switch that can be freely assigned to any automation, scene, or device in your smart home — completely independent of the wired relay. This decoupled button mode is particularly useful in rental properties and multi-room setups where one physical press should trigger a chain of actions rather than just toggling a light.
