The Aqara Hub M3 is a flagship multi-protocol smart home hub that acts simultaneously as a Zigbee coordinator, Thread Border Router, Matter controller, and Matter bridge — all in one compact device. It connects up to 128 devices across Zigbee and Thread networks, bridges them into the Matter ecosystem, and enables fully local automation that continues to work even when your internet connection goes down.
Connectivity is exceptionally flexible: dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz with WPA3), a wired RJ45 Ethernet port with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, and USB-C power input with mini-UPS capability for uninterrupted operation during power outages. The M3 stores all automation data locally on its 8GB eMMC storage — no microphone, no camera, no cloud dependency for local operations.
The built-in 360° IR blaster sets the M3 apart from other hubs: it not only sends commands to air conditioners, TVs, and other IR-controlled devices, but also detects when a physical remote is used and updates the device status accordingly. When paired with an Aqara temperature sensor, the M3 can expose your air conditioner to Matter as a full thermostat — controllable via Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings. The built-in 95dB speaker supports doorbell sounds, alarms, and custom notifications.
